Prayer Shawl Ministry
Started in 1998 by Janet Bristow and Vitoria Galo, the ministry is celebrating 27 years in 2025. Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy. Many blessings are prayed into each shawl.
Mashpee Congregational Churches Prayer Shawl Ministry is part of his global organization. On August 24,2008, Rev. Jim Scovil held a Prayer Shawl Ministry Commissioning in the Bellamy Meeting House. The MCC ladies were off and knitting.
We get together for knitting on Mondays from 2-3:30pm at the church. Members can also knit at home at their leisure. This is a team you don’t even have to join. Just knit or crochet a Prayer Shawl, Comfort Shawl, Peace Shawl or Mantle and drop it off at church or our supply closet. Say or think words of blessings as you knit. All are welcome.
